Helpful tips for getting to and from Northern Arizona.
Which airport should I fly into?
We recommend flying to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and renting a car to drive to Flagstaff. It’s a 2.5-hour drive north from the airport to Flagstaff. Driving during the day allows you to experience the magnificent landscape of Arizona and enjoy the amazing change in scenery from cactus desert outside Phoenix to the largest Ponderosa Pine Forest in the world, at an elevation of 7,000 feet in Flagstaff.
Make sure to leave Phoenix with a full tank of gas. There are large stretches of highway without gas stations.

Alternatively, you can fly to Flagstaff's Pulliam Airport with a stopover in Dallas or Phoenix. These flights are generally more expensive, but many times you can find a good deal where the cost is similar to flying to Phoenix.
One more option:
Fly into Phoenix and fly out of Las Vegas or vice versa. Depending on your travel plans and the attractions on your itinerary, this option may work great.
For example, you can drive from Flagstaff to Las Vegas and stop at the famous Hoover Dam. The drive itself would be 4 hours. You can also drive to Zion National Park and continue to Las Vegas.
